Analysis and Compensation Control of Engine Valve Response Delay Based on the Electro-Hydraulic Variable Valve Actuator

The time delay of variable valve actuators has a significant influence on engine lift tracking performance. For camless hydraulic actuators, response is affected by many factors, such as friction and control response. In this paper, investigated in depth. Experiment results show that motion can be divided into open close delay. They are different even the same cycle. Complicated characteristics make it difficult to build an accurate model. data-based observer developed. To compensate nonlinear delay, virtual desired designed. By synthesizing backstepping procedure, controller with compensation Compared P controller, improved performance significantly. experiment error reduced 18.33% 4% at least both stable conditions transient conditions. At conditions, not more than 0.39 °CA, 0.44 °CA.
